Based here at the Centre, The Northern Gold Coast Communities for Children Initiative (C4C) is a 4-year initiative funded by the Australian Government under the Stronger Families and Communities Strategy and facilitated by Lifeline Community Care Queensland. It focuses on children from birth to five years living in Ormeau, Oxenford, Coomera, Upper Coomera, Pimpama and Cedar Creek.

The Northern Gold Coast Communities for Children Initiative is providing a great assortment of programs and activities that are designed to support and connect families in our Community.

Community 'Child Focused' Hubs

Community Child Focused Hubs provide programs to support families and children. Currently there are five hubs operating in the Northern Gold Coast area. They are Cedar Creek Community Hub, St Mary's Community Hub, Coomera Community Hub, Oxenford State School Community Hub and our own Youth Centre Community Hub.

Programs running at the Hubs include:

• Parent Drop-In Mornings
• Small Sports
• Move2Music
• Mums & Kids Fitness
• Parenting Education Programs
• Super Parents Series
• Playgroups
• New Mums Groups
• Visits from a Child Health Nurse
• Read & Grow Storytelling

Creating Community Connections

This innovative program employs community members as Community Researchers (CR). The CRs are supporting, encouraging and fostering community group interaction, with the aim of enriching social networks and assisting new residents to engage with the broader community.

Part of this strategy is to develop a free community services booklet titled 'Living on the Northern Gold Coast'. The booklet aims to be a welcoming tool for new residents to more easily locate services and businesses within he Northern Gold Coast area.

CRs also work alongside community members to; gather data in an emerging community; assist community members to develop neighbourhoob projects like street bbqs, family fin days and community events; inform and educate about FREE community child friendly activities through regular newsletters; and the broader strategy of developing parent support groups.
